The Precambrian was the earliest of geologic times. It started 4.6 billion years ago and ended 540 million years ago. Precambrian time is also called early age of life.

The climate in the Precambrian varied. In some parts there was a warm climate. But there was a time when it was very cold. I'm these cold times some places were filled with glaciers.

In the Precambrian the shape and location of the continents were very different from what we have today. Most of the continents were smaller than the ones we have today. And the surfaces of the continents were ingenious rock. In this time the plates of the earth moved constantly so the continents moved around from place to place. Because of this the continents crunched together and broke apart again.
Landforms changed constantly in the Precambrian.after the earth cooled land started to form. Then the first ever continent phodinia was made. Soon after the continent formed it split. Then it formed back again to create a new continent panotia. And finally panotia split up to create other continents.

In the Precambrian life started to happen. The organisms had all evolved from microscopic bacteria. One organism that evolved from the bacteria is single cell organisms. They lived in the sea. Prokaryotes evolved from these. And most living things on the earth are prokaryotes. In this stage plants appear. There was thick green algae in the oceans and seas. Plants evolved from green algae.

The Precambrian was thought to have ended with a ice age and then a mass extinction. This age was the coldest of times in this time period. Most animals died from the mass extinction. Only a few survived.
Precambrian was the earliest of times. Different layers of sedimentary rocks mark this. Also the earth was 600 million years old when life began.
